The psoas muscle is not only vital to our good posture and healthy movement patterns, the length & strength of the psoas are the foundation for many of the yoga postures. Sadly, most Westerners have a tight and chronically contracted psoas, which drives them to develop unhealthy compensation patterns in their attempts to learn yoga. The elastic band allows the psoas to develop healthily by inhibiting the faulty postural patterns. This is a foundational exercise of Alignment Yoga’s Pre-Yoga routine.
